YouTube says the labels will also expand to the main YouTube app. (<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.youtube\/news-and-events\/youtube-music-ai-labels\/\">YouTube&#8217;s announcement<\/a>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For video creators, the update is a useful reminder to keep two questions separate: how a piece of music was made, and whether you have permission to use it in your project. A label answers the first question. It does not, by itself, tell you whether a track is cleared for a particular video, platform, client, advertisement or commercial use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What YouTube has confirmed<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">YouTube says a label is intended to identify songs where generative AI played a significant role, such as when a model was used to create the composition and vocals. The company says it will work with music partners and use its own detection tools to identify eligible tracks. Its announcement describes the rollout as beginning on YouTube Music and says the labels will also expand to the main YouTube app.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The announcement does not give a complete rollout schedule for every track, territory or surface. It also does not say that every AI-assisted song will receive the same label. Creators should treat the label as platform information, not as a complete audit of a song\u2019s production history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the label does not tell you<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">An AI label is not a licence, a copyright ruling or a guarantee about how a track may be reused. If you are choosing music for a client video or monetised channel, check the track\u2019s actual licence and the platform\u2019s current rules. Keep the licence record and any required attribution with your project files.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Likewise, seeing no label is not proof that a track contains no AI-generated material. YouTube describes identification through partner information and detection tools; it does not claim that those methods identify every instance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">A practical checklist for creators<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before you publish:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Check the origin and terms of your music.<\/strong> Use the source\u2019s documentation, not only a player label.<\/li><li><strong>Keep evidence of permission.<\/strong> Save the licence, receipt or other documentation associated with the track.<\/li><li><strong>Follow YouTube\u2019s disclosure instructions.<\/strong> If your own video includes meaningfully altered or synthetically generated content, check the current YouTube Help guidance on disclosure.<\/li><li><strong>Don\u2019t infer rights from a label.<\/strong> A platform label describes content; it does not grant you reuse rights.<\/li><\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For music licensed through RouteNote Licensing, check the current <a href=\"https:\/\/licensing.routenote.com\/license-agreement\">licence agreement<\/a> and your account\u2019s applicable terms before publishing.
