Last night saw female artists dominate at a Covid-friendly version of the Brit Awards<\/a>. Find out who took home which trophies right here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the UK’s biggest music awards took place last night at the O2 Arena in London. A live audience of 4,000 people attended without the need for social distancing or PPE. 2,500 of these included key-workers, such as health care workers and teachers, and their guests. This was part of the UK governments run of trial events to test how live music can return safely<\/a> following the pandemic. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

2021’s Brits saw women lead the way, with wins for Arlo Parks, Dua Lipa and Taylor Swift. This comes after the awards received criticism for its being heavily biased towards male artists in 2020. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

An historic moment, Little Mix became the first all-female group to win the award for best British group. The award for best international group was also claimed by an all-female group, in Los Angeles trio, Haim.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dua Lipa did well, snapping up the trophy for best album with Future Nostalgia<\/em>, as well as best British female artist. Best male went to rapper, J Hus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Brit Awards were also favourable to young female musicians. Arlo Parks, Griff, and Billie Eilish, impressively aged just 20, 20 and 19 respectively, received awards for best breakthrough artist, rising star, and best international female. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Taylor Swift added another first to her music award collection, after her historic Grammys win<\/a> earlier this year. As the first woman ever to win the Brit award for global icon, Swift encouragingly declared in her acceptance speech:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThere is no career path that comes free of negativity. If you\u2019re being met with resistance that probably means that you\u2019re doing something new.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n
