The latest E3 showcase gaming expo is wrapping up for another year, with a couple of extended events still in the schedule<\/a>. Buzzing gaming fans the world over witnessed exciting announcements via Xbox’s livestream of the event. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Knowing the ferocity of Twitch’s DMCA striking<\/a>, Microsoft secured the appropriate music rights ahead of the E3 showcase. Back in February, Metallica’s Blizzcon performance<\/a> on Blizzard’s channel was hilariously dubbed. Gaming enthusiasts enjoy hosting viewing parties on Twitch, but are often burned with DMCA<\/a> strikes for streaming content that includes copyrighted music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Microsoft sent out an email to all streamers, notifying them of what to expect in order to protect themselves from strikes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWe at Xbox greatly appreciate any co-stream efforts and aim to ensure you have a smooth experience if you choose to do so. To that end, we have acquired retransmission rights to all licensed music featured in this live stream broadcast. However, due to forces beyond our control, we cannot guarantee music labels, publishers, and their bots will not incorrectly claim something on stream.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

As Twitch views itself primarily as a streaming service, rather than a video sharing platform, the licensing is time-limited. This means if you’ve got any VODs of the E3 showcase, they’re only safe for 12 months. Microsoft recommends that you delete these videos before 1st June 2022, to avoid any negative impact. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
