Pro Tools 2026.11 Adds Stem Separation and New Extensions
Avid announced Pro Tools 2026.11 on 5 November 2026. The release adds Pro Tools Extensions, including an AI-powered Stem Separator, support for MIDI Polyphonic Expression (MPE) and several Windows improvements. Avid says the update is available now to Pro Tools Intro users and eligible Artist, Studio and Ultimate users. What the update includes
Avid describes Pro Tools Extensions as a new format for adding workflows directly within Pro Tools. One announced extension, Stem Separator, uses AI to separate audio into individual elements. Avid’s announcement does not establish that separation will work equally well on every recording, so test the tool on the actual material before building a project around its output.
The update also adds MPE support, which can be useful to musicians working with compatible controllers and instruments. Windows changes include high-DPI support, improved per-monitor scaling and playlist clip colour-coding.
Check access and system requirements
Avid says Pro Tools 2026.11 is available to Pro Tools Intro users and to Artist, Studio and Ultimate users with an eligible subscription or perpetual licence and active upgrade plan. Availability and feature access can depend on account status, operating system and supported hardware. Check the release notes before updating a workstation in the middle of a project.
For video editors, podcasters and small production teams, the practical question is whether the new tools fit the audio work already in progress. Save a copy of an important session and confirm plugin and system compatibility before changing versions.
