Elgato Wave Go: UK Price, Compatibility and Recording Limits
Elgato’s official Wave Go product explainer was updated on 13 October 2026. It describes a small wireless microphone that can be clipped to clothing or fitted into an included handle for handheld interviews. As checked on 16 October, Elgato’s UK store lists the kit at £99.99 and in stock. Those details make it a current option for phone-first creators, but the connection and backup limits matter before buying.
What comes with Wave Go?
The UK store lists one transmitter, a Smart Handle, a USB-C receiver, carrying case, magnetic plate and clip, furry windscreens, pouch and charging cable. The transmitter can be used clipped to clothing or seated in the Smart Handle for a handheld style. Elgato also lists an optional second transmitter, but check the store for current price and stock before publication or purchase.
For a two-person recording, Elgato says a second transmitter pairs with the same receiver and the voices are mixed into a single mono track. That can simplify a phone interview or co-host recording, though it does not provide two separately recorded tracks for later independent mixing.
Check the connection before you buy
Elgato says Wave Go is designed for USB-C devices such as phones and computers. Its UK product page lists support for iOS 17 or later, iPadOS 17 or later and Android 8.0 or later for the companion app. Wave Link software is listed for Windows 11 or later and macOS 15 or later.
The manufacturer explicitly says Wave Go is not made for direct use with professional DSLR or mirrorless cameras. If your workflow depends on plugging a receiver into a camera’s mic input, this is an important distinction. It also has no onboard recording: audio goes straight to the connected phone or computer. If your shoot needs a local backup in case the wireless connection or recording device fails, choose a workflow that includes one and test it before the shoot.
Wave Go sends audio to its USB-C receiver over a dedicated 2.4 GHz connection; Bluetooth is for the companion app. Elgato lists approximately eight hours of transmitter battery life and around 30 metres of wireless range. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results, and real-world results can vary with the environment and setup.
Is it a fit for your workflow?
Wave Go’s clip-on and handheld modes may suit street interviews, short-form videos, presentations or a creator who records directly to a phone. Before buying, confirm your device has USB-C, check app and operating-system compatibility, and decide whether one mixed mono track and no local backup meet your needs.
