Struggling for content ideas? Try our random video title generator
Many leading creators say that much of their content starts with a great title. Alongside the thumbnail, your title plays a crucial role in attracting viewers, so coming up with something compelling is well worth the effort.
But what happens when the inspiration well runs dry and you can’t think of a title or theme for your next piece of content? Fear not. RouteNote Licensing has put together a nifty title generator designed to spark inspiration and help you develop your next video idea. Just add a subject and give it a whirl!!!
How to use the generator

Using the generator is simple. First, come up with a subject you’re interested in. It could be anything, slot car racing, vinyl records, keeping Geckos, yoga, polishing fossils, you name it.
Once you have selected your subject you are faced with three title elements:
- What You Do
- The Twist
- The Angle
The What You Do establishes the basic format of your video. The Twist adds something that makes the idea more challenging, unusual or intriguing. Finally, The Angle provides the question, outcome or payoff that gives the viewer another reason to watch.
Simply add your subject theme where it says [SUBJECT] and randomly start combining the three elements together in the given order. This method offers up to 8000 different combinations for any one given subject!
So, have you thought of your subject? Here are your combinable sections…
1. What you do
The first element establishes what you’re actually going to do with your subject.
So simply select out one of these title starters adding your given subject in the brackets:
- I Tried [SUBJECT]
- I Tested [SUBJECT]
- I Explored [SUBJECT]
- I Investigated [SUBJECT]
- I Compared [SUBJECT]
- I Ranked [SUBJECT]
- I Reviewed [SUBJECT]
- I Studied [SUBJECT]
- I Learned About [SUBJECT]
- I Tried to Master [SUBJECT]
- I Went Looking for [SUBJECT]
- I Went Down the Rabbit Hole of [SUBJECT]
- I Spent a Week Exploring [SUBJECT]
- I Took a Deep Dive Into [SUBJECT]
- I Looked Into [SUBJECT]
- I Gave [SUBJECT] a Try
- I Put [SUBJECT] to the Test
- I Discovered the World of [SUBJECT]
- I Tried Something New With [SUBJECT]
- I Wanted to Find Out More About [SUBJECT]
2. The twist
Next comes The Twist. This changes the way you’ll approach the subject. It can introduce a format such as a challenge, restriction, time limit or experiment.
Select from this motley bunch:
- for the First Time
- for 30 Days
- With No Prior Experience
- Starting From Scratch
- With a £20 Budget
- Without Spending Any Money
- Using Only the Cheapest Options
- Using Only the Most Expensive Options
- Using Only What I Already Had
- Without Looking at Any Guides
- Without Taking Any Shortcuts
- Under a Strict Time Limit
- With One Simple Rule
- Using the Traditional Method
- By Doing It the Hard Way
- With Help From an Expert
- Without Knowing What to Expect
- In the Real World
- To See How Far I Could Go
- To See What Would Happen
This is often the part that gives the curious viewer a clear reason to watch.
3. The angle
And finally, we have The Angle. This gives the title its payoff by suggesting what you’re hoping to discover, learn or find out. This is optional as the generator is designed to work just by combining what you do with a twist. But adding angles such as these to a video can increase intrigue.
Complete your title by adding one of these*
- — This Is What Happened
- — This Is What I Learned
- — This Is What Surprised Me
- — This Is What I Discovered
- — This Is What Nobody Tells You
- — This Is What I Got Wrong
- — This Is What I Wish I’d Known
- — This Is What I’d Do Differently
- — This Is What Changed
- — This Is What Made the Biggest Difference
- — This Is What I Wasn’t Expecting
- — This Is What Went Wrong
- — This Is What Worked Best
- — This Is What Didn’t Work
- — This Is What Makes It So Interesting
- — This Is What Makes It So Difficult
- — This Is What Makes It Worth Trying
- — This Is What I Would Recommend
- — This Is What It Really Takes
- — This Is Why Everyone Is Talking About It
Note* I have added an — as this helps to break the title up effectively.
The angle can turn a simple experiment into a story with an outcome. It also gives the viewer a question to which they presumably want to know the answer to.
Let’s put them all together

Now for the fun part. time to put the generator to the test and see what interesting video angles we can formulate.
Let’s start off with a subject thats a YouTube favourite: LEGO.
So let’s power up the generator (basically you coming up with random numbers between 1-20) You, I mean it, has plucked out: 11 / 16 / 4
What You Do: I Went Looking for LEGO
The Twist: With Help From an Expert
The Angle: — This Is What I Wasn’t Expecting
Giving you the following title: I went looking for LEGO with help from and expert — This Is What I Discovered
Or perhaps we get active with the subject of: Stand up paddle boarding:
The generator might randomly select: 15 / 3 / 20
What You Do: I Looked Into Stand up paddle boarding
The Twist: With No Prior Experience
The Angle: — This Is Why Everyone Is Talking About It
Giving you this clickworthy title: I Looked Into Stand up paddle boarding with No Prior Experience— This Is Why Everyone Is Talking About It
For our final example lets examine the subject of: Health suppliments
Here’s our rnumbers: 16 / 07 / 10
What You Do: I Gave Health Suppliments a Try
The Twist: Using Only the Cheapest Options
The Angle: — This Is What Made the Biggest Difference
Resulting in this glorious title: I Gave Health Suppliments a Try Using Only the Cheapest Options — This Is What Made the Biggest Difference
Use the title generator for inspiration – not a strict rule
Obviously, some combinations will work better than others. The idea of randomly selecting three sets of numbers is really just a bit of fun, giving you a quick and unexpected way to spark an idea.
A more effective approach would be to actively explore different combinations and look for ones that immediately grab your attention. Sometimes a good subject and an interesting twist can be enough to break through idea fatigue or a creative block and inspire an altogether different angle thats not listed here. So don’t think you can’t edit or add your own twists.
Think of the formula as a starting point rather than a finished video title. See what it unlocks, follow the ideas it throws up and, most importantly, have fun discovering where these combinations might take you.
Stop risking your channel’s revenue and momentum on a flawed system.
